EVENTS
11 January – ‘Conservatory and House Plants’ by Phil Aubury, former Director of Birmingham Botanical Gardens will give us a survival guide. New Year cheer with mulled wine and mince pies
8 February – ‘Easy Care Garden Plants’ by Simon Gulliver, a gardens consultant with the National Trust.
8 March – ‘Extracts from the Head Gardener’s Journal’ by
Harry Green, head gardener at Morton Hall, will give us plus some practical tips on gardening techniques used at Morton Hall.
10 March – The Annual Supper, Barnt Green Cricket Club 6.30 for 7pm, Fully Booked.

12 April – ‘Gardening with and for Wildlife’ by Victoria Logue, who started her own Nursery in the Cotswolds. She is also an enthusiastic beekeeper.
10 May – ‘Montana and beyond – the World of Clematis and what they can do for your Garden’ by Helen Picton from Picton’s Nursery make a welcome return with some great ideas.
1 September – Main Fruit, Flower, Vegetable & Produce Show
Prizes presented by David Morgan, Worcestershire County Organiser RHS National Garden Scheme.
Due to the long hot spell everyone’s gardens are suffering so please do your best with entries in the Flower and Produce sections. However, if you are struggling, do try to enter the Domestic, Floral Art, Photographic and Arts and Crafts sections to make it a really good show.

Saturday 1 September: Exhibits to be set up in the hall 8.30-11am
Show open to the public at 3pm, FREE entry. Raffle and teas with delicious homemade cakes available.

13 September – ‘ A Year in the Gardens at Wisley’
by Jamie Butterworth.
At the age of 16 Jamie
was a finalist in BBC’s
Young Gardener of the Year award.
He went on to study at Wisley
for two years and will give us
his insight.
11 October – ‘The Wonders of Westonbirt’ by Pauline Thomas

8 November – A.G.M. with Cheese and Wine
13 December – Winter in Bloom with Samantha and Nigel Hopes. Young plant enthusiasts who have worked at Ashwood Nursery, Wisley and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens prior to setting up their own nursery in Halesowen. Plus, ‘Hello Christmas‘ with mulled wine and mince pies?
Outings :
Early March – Bourdon Hill Nursery – Postponed until 2019 an opportunity to see how modern technology is used in the production of wholesale plants. It’s about 1½ hour tour round the glasshouses so one needs to be reasonably fit!
26 April – Little Malvern Court and Garden, (WR14 4JN) 10.30am own transport : to be there by 10.30. Cost – £12.50 (includes tour of house, look round small but lovely gardens and refreshments).
